Aussie dollar falls on rate view

HONG KONG (Reuters) – The Australian dollar fell and bonds jumped on Wednesday on decreased chances of an interest rate rise in February, while Japanese bank shares surged on a report of a possible delay in new global bank capital rules.

MUFG profit up 59 percent, scales back Morgan plan

TOKYO (Reuters) – Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group posted a 59 percent rise in quarterly profit helped by stronger lending, becoming the third major Japanese bank to post market-beating results, in a sign that Tokyo’s lenders may now be on the mend.
