Astellas buys OSI Pharma for $4 billion in cancer push

TOKYO (Reuters) – Astellas Pharma , Japan’s No.2 drugmaker, agreed to buy U.S. biotech OSI Pharmaceuticals for $4 billion in cash in a sweetened bid that will add OSI’s blockbuster cancer drug Tarceva to its line-up.

Japan’s Astellas bids $3.5 billion for OSI Pharma

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Astellas Pharma Inc launched a $3.5 billion hostile bid for OSI Pharmaceuticals to gain access to the blockbuster Tarceva cancer drug, in the latest move by a Japanese drugmaker to make inroads in the United States.
